Canadian Brass to Perform Five Concerts In China

FIRST PERFORMANCES SINCE GROUNDBREAKING 1977 TOUR
FROM BEIJING TO SHANGHAI – MAY 20 TO 25, 2010
The world’s most famous brass group embarks upon a 5-city tour of China next week, their first return to the country for a concert tour since their groundbreaking 1977 appearances, when they were the first Western musical group into the country following the end of the Cultural Revolution. The concerts include Xi’an, Beijing, Dalian, Luoyang and Shanghai on May 20 to May 24 respectively, followed by a Masterclass at the Shanghai Conservatory on May 25.

These concerts are among the first performances with the group’s newest member, trombonist Keith Dyrda. At just 21-years of age and still completing his studies at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music in Montreal, Keith has already become a prominent presence in the performance scene in Canada. Trombonist Eugene Watts, co-founder of CANADIAN BRASS, introduced his successor this way: “Keith is young, charismatic, full of fun and one of the finest trombonists I have ever heard. I think that he will be an ideal soul mate and partner for the other members of the group.”
Keith joins CANADIAN BRASS members Chuck Daellenbach (tuba and founding member) Christopher Coletti and Brandon Ridenour (trumpets) and Jeff Nelsen (horn).
